ICT&S Course Module "Technologies & Humanities"

HomePfeilStudiesPfeilSupplemental StudiesPfeilTechnologies & Humanities

The increasing integration of information- and communication technologies (ICTs) to our society evokes manifold changes in different areas. The ICT&S teaching module "Technologies & Humanities" deals with pivotal questions in the context of the cooperation between individuals, society, and the new information- and communication technologies, and focuses on social meta processes like globalization, standardization, connectivity, and interaction. A combination of cultural studies and social studies with technology and the social sciences is of a major interest at the ICT&S Center. The module "Technologies & Humanities" focuses therefore in particular on the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation. The main focus is on topics regarding the influence modern information- and communication technologies have on the society and the societal factors that influence or control the development of these technologies. To understand the interdependence of these interrelations, an established theoretical examination of these processes is mandatory.
